Eagles Quest for an Undefeated Season Comes to an End in Week 6

In unceremonious fashion, the Philadelphia Eagles trip toward an undefeated season came to an abrupt halt. On a brisk but sunny Sunday afternoon at Metlife Stadium, the Eagles lost to the New York Jets 20-14, falling to 5-1 on the year. The Eagles also saw their undefeated record against the Jets disappear, as they’re now 12-1 against the team.

It was an afternoon to forget for quarterback Jalen Hurts, who threw for three interceptions. The Eagles struck first blood on the day, putting together a masterful first drive that ended with a Hurts touchdown run. And heading into the locker room at halftime, the team held a 14-9 lead following Hurts lone touchdown pass of the day.

The second half, however, was a different story as the Jets scored 11 unanswered points to take the win. The Eagles drives in the second half all fizzled out, with drives featuring a missed field goal, two interceptions, and three punts or turnover on downs. The Eagles defense held the Jets in check, only allowing one touchdown and sacking quarterback Zach Wilson five times, but ultimately offensive mistakes were too much to overcome.

The Eagles will look to regroup next weekend, as they welcome the 5-1 Miami Dolphins and their high-powered offense for a primetime matchup on Sunday Night Football.
