The Office of Reentry Partnerships, in partnership with the Philadelphia Reentry Coalition, is celebrating Philadelphia Reentry Month all June!
Join us as we come together to hear from people who have come home from jail or prison, recognize individuals participating in reentry programs, and acknowledge Philadelphia Reentry Coalition members who are making a difference in their communities.
What is Philadelphia Reentry Month?
Philadelphia Reentry Awareness Month is a celebration of Philadelphians who have returned home from the legal system and the individuals who support them during and after this transition.
In 2017, Philadelphia City Council recognized June as Reentry Awareness Month. The month was imagined as a time for the Philadelphia Reentry Coalition to host a series of events to honor the reentry, or return, of people involved with the legal system.
For people impacted by the legal system, there are legal barriers to employment, housing, voting, education, business licensing, and so many other parts of life that many of us take for granted. By hosting events throughout the month of June (and beyond) the Office of Reentry Partnerships and the Reentry Coalition hope to highlight solutions for legal system involved Philadelphians and to support in taking down the barriers that limit their opportunities.
